Nuno Oliveira – Multi‑Instrumentalist & Composer
Kora • Percussion • Balafon • Ambient Soundscapes • Sound Healing
Nuno Oliveira is a Portuguese multi‑instrumentalist and composer based in Sarzana, Italy. His work bridges West African traditions, acoustic textures, and ambient soundscapes, shaped by two decades of experience with djembé, dununs, krin, balafon, and kora.
He trained through Tam Tam Mandingue Portugal beginning in 2004, later performing with the Costa de Prata samba school and the Allatantou Dance Company. In 2013, he began studying the kora under Gambian musician Mbye Ebrima, leading to collaborations with the Yawal project and KorestrA, an orchestra dedicated to preserving Mandinka musical heritage.
Active across theatre, contemporary dance, and documentary cinema, Nuno composes original soundtracks, teaches percussion, builds acoustic tools, and guides sound‑healing sessions. He is currently expanding his craft through ongoing audio‑production studies, exploring new intersections between acoustic instruments and modern sound design.
